If you grew up thrilled to go and pick out a pair of $4 flip flops from Old Navy, you may have since graduated to shopping at her cooler, older sister, the Gap. While we love them both, what is the number one rule about shopping at these stores?? Never buy at full price! Say it with me: WAIT FOR A SALE!
Gap runs some kind of promo almost every week, and 40–50% off is pretty standard if you’re patient. So add these to your cart, let them sit there, and pounce when the sale hits.
That being said, here are the things I keep coming back to at Gap, again and again.
100% Cotton Sweaters
Honestly, a good cotton sweater is so hard to find now. The specific one pictured is the “100% cotton oversized sweater” (in brown + cream!) Gap’s 100% cotton knits are soft, breathable, and hold a nice shape, so they actually look nice after you wash them!! They also have their 100% cotton pieces available in cardigans + rollneck sweaters as well!
Close-Knit Jersey Long Sleeves
These are the most underrated basic in my closet. When these go on sale, I stock up in a few because I know I’ll reach for them multiple days a week! My fave colours are the chocolate brown + heather grey!
Kids Sweatsuits
If you have little ones, you HAVE to try these. Gap’s kids sweatsuits are cozy, they wash really well, and the colours are so cute without being over the top. My fave thing ever is anytime we are going on a family road trip I will dress everyone in a matching sweatsuit and it is the cutest thing ever!!

How to Shop Gap Sales
1. Never buy at full price. I mean it. Gap has a sale on literally all the time, so paying full price is just doing yourself dirty. If it’s not on sale today, it will be soon. Be patient!
2. Keep your cart loaded. When I spot something I love, it goes straight into my cart and stays there. That way, when a sale drops, I’m not scrolling around trying to remember what I wanted. Everything is already waiting for me. It’s like a wishlist that’s ready to check out.
3. Shop on the first day of the sale. This is the big one. The good stuff goes fast, especially popular sizes and the cute colours. If you wait until the last day, your faves will probably be sold out. So when that sale email lands, open your loaded cart and check out the same day.
Final Thoughts
Gap has been a go to for staples for good reason! Make sure you always wait for that sale!
